FORMAL RUSH PROCESS
We want to establish a mutualistic relationship with our members, one that benefits both the organization and the individual. We do not set a cap for the size of the pledge class or compare applicants, as we evaluate each PNM based on her application and attendance alone. Our Sisters bring a wealth of artistic, athletic, activist, and academic knowledge and talent to our organization, a tradition we hope to continue for many years.
I know that I want to rush Rho Epsilon Pi. What’s next?
We’re thrilled that you’re interested in rushing Rho Ep! Our goal here is to remain as transparent as possible, so please contact the current Executive Board or Recruitment Chairs with any questions or concerns you may have before, during, or after the process.
What should I expect from Rush?
Our rush process presents our members with an opportunity to meet and get to know you. We’re interested in the ways in which our organization would benefit from your inclusion as well as the ways you might benefit from our organization. We want to make sure that we make a mutual match on both sides of that equation. In that regard, our events include a meet and greet informal dinner, sister speed dating, day of service, movie night, and social event. Through these events and our application, we hope to gather the most holistic appreciation of each Potential New Member. Most importantly, we want PNMs to approach rush without stress and just be themselves.
Are all events required?
All events are considered “mandatory.” Though we’re not generally a fan of air quotes, they seem appropriate here. If you have a prior obligation (e.g., TA session, athletic engagement, family commitment, etc), we will excuse you from the event upon notification of the prior commitment. We know that many of our PNMs are fresh(wo)men and that adjusting to a new academic and athletic schedule can be difficult. Rho Epsilon Pi should never become a burden on your life at Wesleyan in any way. That said, we can only engage with each PNM as much as she attends events.
What should I wear?
Your Recruitment Chair will provide information about what sisters will wear at each event to give you an idea of how you may want to dress (i.e., formal, informal). Often, sisters will wear a specific color so that you may readily distinguish Sisters from Potential New Members. But more importantly, dress in a way that expresses you!
